Het Gent Jazz Festival (5 tot 14 juli, Bijlokesite) kreeg officieel bericht dat Bobby Womack zich gedwongen ziet zijn geplande tour uit te stellen. Hierdoor vervalt ook het concert op 14 juli 2012. De festivalorganisatie zal zo snel mogelijk een nieuwe naam bekend maken om het programma van zaterdag 14 juli met R&B icoon D’Angelo als headliner, de Belgische band STUFF. en dj TLP Troubleman te vervolledigen, en wenst Bobby Womack een voorspoedig herstel.
Op expliciete vraag van het management en uit respect voor de artiest geven we de originele -niet vertaalde- boodschap van het management, die meer duiding geeft, hieronder door: “Bobby Womack has unfortunately been forced to postpone his upcoming scheduled International concert dates and in-person promotional appearances to fully heal from surgery following a lingering bout of pneumonia. His physicians have expressed the expectation that he is in the process of making a full recovery but have ordered him to remain off the road and on bed rest at this time.” Bobby Womack voegde zelf toe: “I send my deepest apologies to my loyal fans around the world, and would like to thank them for their unwavering love, support and well wishes during my stay here at the hospital.”
