Quintin Gerard W. groeide op in Norco, Louisiana. Op school was hij lid van de District VI Honor Jazz and Concert Bands of New Orleans, waar hij samenspeelde met Harry Connick Jr. In 1983 maakte hij ook deel uit van de Louisiana All-State Band. Hij studeerde af aan de universiteit in Jazz studies onder Ellis Marsalis. In 1989 verhuisde hij naar LA waar hij met de topnamen in smooth jazz speelde, zoals Jeff Lorber, Najee, Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum enz. Samen met jazz-fusion band Under The Lake opende hij voor o.a. Joe Sample. Ook nam hij jingles op voor publiciteitsspots, en voor tv-soundtracks. Zijn debuutcd ‘Fnkysax’ kwam uit in 2004. In 2006 kwam daar de opvolger van uit, en dat was ‘Perseverance’. Hij definieert zijn sound Fnkysax als “the method of playing saxophone characterized by incorporating elements of funk, R&B, Gospel, Blues, and Jazz supported by the underlying foundation of the urban culture and experience”. Nu is zijn nieuwste project uit, waarover hij het volgende zegt: “I wanted to show a little more of what I can do with the sax on the second album. But it was time to reconnect with the fans who embraced my trademark sound. It’s all about infectious urban grooves and romantic songs with vocals in the background that people can enjoy and sing along to.” Dat nieuwe album, waarvoor hij alle songs zelf schreef, opent met de soulvolle, dromerige ballade ‘Sweet Ladies’, gevolgd door het mid-tempo nummer ‘Our Day Will Come’. ‘Like This Like That’ is ook een zachte song, waarna de melancholische ballade ‘When Things Don’t Go So Well’ eraan komt. De titeltrack drijft op een trage retro housebeat, gevolgd door de zwoele vrouwenstem van Snejana Popovo, die je uitnodigt tot de ‘Night Time Pleasure’. Met ‘The Asymptote’ grijpt Quintin terug naar de housemuziek van de jaren negentig. ‘Foster’s Child’ is weerom zo’n dromerige, melancholische ballade, waarna de ietwat funky, “feel good” song ‘Be Happy People’ uit de boxen weerklinkt. Daarna keert hij weerom terug naar de soulvolle ballade ‘Words Can’t Explain’, gevolgd door de trip chill atmosfeer van ‘Buy That Ring’, compleet met ruimteachtige geluidseffecten. Op de ballade ‘Nevada Nights’ speelt Quintin ook fluit, waarna ‘Test My Love Again’ afsluit. Quintin overstijgt hier de smooth jazz, door inbreng van andere elementen.
