Zoals beloofd in de review van ‘Christmas Time’s A-Comin’, A Hillbilly Christmas’, komt nu opvolger ‘Come On Baby It’s Christmas, More Hillbilly Christmas’ aan bod. Een formidabele opvolger die in dezelfde sfeer baadt. Een groot aantal artiesten die ‘Christmas Time’s A-Comin’, A Hillbilly Christmas’ sierden, zijn ook terug te vinden op ‘Come On Baby It’s Christmas, More Hillbilly Christmas’. Alhoewel het twee cd’s zijn, kan je ze best beschouwen als een dubbelalbum. Als je er één zou willen aanschaffen, kies je toch best voor beiden, omdat ze mekaar prachtig aanvullen en je op die manier een vollediger beeld krijgt van datgene wat hillbilly in de kerstsfeer te bieden heeft. En dat is heel wat. Bijvoorbeeld een aparte versie van ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ van een goed bij stem zittende Molly Bee, gevolgd door het al even indrukwekkende ‘Maybe Next Christmas’ van grootheid George Jones. Vocaal scoren doen Ginger, Jean, and Dolores Dinning with Bob Atcher in ‘Christmas Island’. Een meerstemmige topper, die door het gebruik van steelgitaar een holiday gevoel waarborgt. Een authentiek gevoel krijgt even later de bovenhand in ‘Give Me An Old Fashioned Christmas’ van Eddie Cletro and The Frontiersmen. Sereniteit is dan weer een gevoel dat Kitty Wells met verve weet te scheppen in ‘Silent Night’. Een andere feel, namelijk dat rockende country, volgt in George Jones’ ‘My Mom And Santa Claus’. Een dijk van een duet is ‘Look Out The Window (The Winter Song)’ van klasbakken Rosemary Clooney en Gene Autry. Voor Bill Haley deze keer geen rock-‘n-roll, maar wel een emotioneel geladen ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Alone This Christmas’.
Kortom met ‘Come On Baby It’s Christmas, More Hillbilly Christmas’ heeft het Atomicat label voor een formidabele opvolger van ‘Christmas Time’s A-Comin’, A Hillbilly Christmas’ gezorgd.
