A.G. Weinberger Returns with Sharing: A New Chapter from Romania’s “Mr. Blues” Born in Oradea, A.G. Weinberger has long been recognized as one of the key figures in bringing American blues to Romania. Musician, guitarist, composer, producer and essayist, he began his career as a blues singer in 1986 and co-founded the country’s first blues band, the Transylvanian Blues Community. A few years later, in 1991, he launched his own project, Weinberger Blues Machine, further cementing his place in the Romanian music scene. His debut album, Good Morning, Mr. Blues (1996), was followed by Standard Weinberger (1997), which earned the award for Best Jazz Album of the Year. That same year, he performed in Bucharest during the official visit of Bill Clinton, receiving a personally signed letter of appreciation. He also stands out as the only non-American artist invited to perform at the Bluestock Festival in Memphis. Over the years, Weinberger has developed a distinctive style that blends traditional blues with contemporary musical exploration. Beyond the stage, he has contributed to cultural and intellectual discourse through his writing, notably in his book The Song Between Freedom and Manipulation, where he reflects on music as a powerful force for values, freedom and human connection. Nicknamed “Mr. Blues of Romania” by critics and praised by B.B. King as “a charismatic guitarist of the highest class,” he has been awarded the Cultural Merit Order in the rank of Knight. Now, A.G. Weinberger returns alongside The Vagabonds with Sharing, his tenth studio album, set for release on April 14, 2026. Featuring 12 original tracks, the record marks a new chapter in the career of one of Romania’s most respected blues and rock artists. Interestingly, Sharing comes after a milestone year in which Weinberger celebrated both his 60th birthday and 40 years in music—moments that initially felt like a natural point of closure. After a series of intense and intimate performances and the release of editorial volumes, the idea of a new studio album was not part of the plan. Yet, driven by a combination of personal encouragement and unexpected opportunities, the project gradually took shape. The result is an album that balances reflection with renewed creative energy. Sharing captures an artist who continues to evolve without losing touch with his roots, offering listeners both a testament to his enduring artistry and an open invitation into the next phase of his musical journey.
