Ahead of His Farewell Album Seven Levels, Tommy Talton Premieres “I’ve Got the Sun in My Heart”

Out November 7 on Strolling Bones Records, Seven Levels is Tommy Talton’s heartfelt farewell, a closing work from a legend guided solely by his art.

​“I’ve Got the Sun In My Heart,” the first single from the late Southern rock legend and Cowboy co-founder Tommy Talton’s final studio album, Seven Levels (out November 7, 2025 via Strolling Bones Records). The track radiates warmth and soul, its lyrical imagery evoking a slow Southern afternoon drive  windows down, time suspended as Talton’s expressive guitar glides beneath rich layers of fiddle and keys. It’s a song full of atmosphere, character, and, fittingly, sunshine.

Recorded in April 2022, Seven Levels brought together Talton’s longtime friends and Capricorn labelmates Randall Bramblett, Chuck Leavell, Rick Hirsch, Charlie Hayward, and Bill Stewart. Despite facing illness and undergoing treatment, Talton’s perfectionism and spirit drove the project forward, resulting in seven songs that capture the essence of his artistry. With its blend of heart, grit, and Southern storytelling, the album serves as both a farewell and a final gift from a musician who lived entirely through his craft.
