Albert Castiglia Goes All In on Grits & Glory, Recorded at Abbey Road Studios

Release date: july 31, 2026

Blues-rock powerhouse Albert Castiglia delivers one of the most personal and electrifying statements of his career with Grits & Glory, his latest solo studio album on Gulf Coast Records. Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, the album captures Castiglia at full throttle raw, reflective, and completely unfiltered.

Grits & Glory marks a powerful full-circle moment for Castiglia, reconnecting him with his earliest musical awakening: a wide-eyed kid from New York whose world shifted from black-and-white to technicolor the moment he heard Rubber Soul on an 8-track en route to a ballgame. That formative spark ignited a lifelong pursuit of sound, leading him to the pioneering work of icons like Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page artists whose influence continues to resonate through his playing. British blues has always been part of Castiglia’s DNA until now, just out of reach.

The concept for the album took shape during a 2023 European tour, when Castiglia and Gulf Coast Records’ Olly Overton discussed returning to the UK to record. Castiglia committed immediately with one stipulation: he would record alongside his trusted road band, Cliff Moore on bass and Ray Hangen on drums. The final piece came together with producer Dave Gross, a longtime collaborator who previously helmed Castiglia’s Solid Ground and brought deep familiarity with Abbey Road into the fold.

With the green light secured, there was only one destination in mind: Abbey Road. In the lead-up to the sessions, Castiglia immersed himself in British musical heritage, making a pilgrimage to Birmingham the birthplace of Black Sabbath and guitar legend Tony Iommi, artists who helped shape his musical identity. Following the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, the visit carried a deeper emotional weight.

From there, it was on to London, where the red light went on and Grits & Glory came to life 100% Castiglia, infused with the spirit of British blues. The result is a fierce, soulful, and high-voltage record that crackles with history, heart, and unmistakable grit an album built to be played loud and felt deeply.
