​After years of chasing the sound that first changed his life, rising blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Alex Kilroy delivers his debut album Break My Chains, a powerful statement of freedom, identity, and self-discovery.

Born in Bistrița, Romania, Kilroy grew up surrounded by music, with early classical training and a family deeply rooted in performance. But everything shifted when he first heard Stevie Ray Vaughan on a family-imported DVD. That moment sparked a lifelong pursuit of blues-rock expression and set him on a path that would eventually lead from Europe to the United States.

The album follows years of relentless drive: from teenage tribute bands across Europe, to competing on The Voice Romania, to a scholarship opportunity at Berklee College of Music, and eventually to rebuilding his life in Chicago, Nashville, and Florida. Each step shaped the emotional and musical core of Break My Chains.

Produced by Tres Sasser, recorded with a handpicked Florida band, mixed by Joe Costa in Nashville, and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, the album blends blues, Southern rock, gospel, and singer-songwriter traditions into a modern, emotionally direct sound. Early singles like “Break My Chains” and “Let The Good Times Roll” (featuring Vince Gill) introduced Kilroy’s expressive guitar tone, raw vocal delivery, and deeply personal songwriting.

At its heart, Break My Chains is about shedding expectation and imitation. “It’s about breaking the chains of trying to be somebody else,” Kilroy explains. “Breaking the patterns in your own mind.”

That message runs throughout the record, where fiery guitar work and soulful performances sit alongside reflective songs inspired by family, love, and loss. The recent passing of his father, Iulian  'his earliest musical influence and lifelong supporter'  casts a quiet but powerful emotional presence across the album.

From start to finish, Break My Chains traces a journey of persistence and transformation: a life built across continents, hardships, and turning points, now distilled into a debut record that finally sounds like its creator.

With this release, Alex Kilroy steps fully into his own voice no longer just chasing the music that inspired him, but shaping it on his own terms.
