All-Star Tribute Album Honors Late Blues-Rock Guitarist Matt Long Featuring Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Elles Bailey, When Rivers Meet, Dom Martin, Chantel McGregor & more Presale Opens: November 7, 2025 (Matt’s birthday) First Single: “Up In Smoke” (performed by Brave Rival) — out November 7 Full Album Release: Spring 2026 When acclaimed blues-rock guitarist and songwriter Matt Long passed away in 2024 at the age of 29, following an 18-month battle with bowel cancer, the blues community responded with an outpouring of love, respect, and support. Best known as the frontman of the award-winning UK band Catfish and twice named Instrumentalist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards, Matt left behind a remarkable musical legacy and a lasting impact on those who knew him. To celebrate his life and music, Matt’s parents Paul and Fiona Long have brought together leading artists from the international blues and blues-rock scene for a special double album, With a Little Help from My Friends. The project features reimagined versions of Matt’s songs performed by a stellar lineup, including Joe Bonamassa and Walter Trout, who both contribute guitar parts alongside Matt’s original vocals. The album also features performances from Elles Bailey, The Cinelli Brothers, When Rivers Meet, Brave Rival, Blue Nation, Sean Webster, Dom Martin, Chantel McGregor, Will Wilde, Alice Armstrong, and more. Two of Matt’s former tutors from ACM Guildford, Nic Meier and Nat Martin, also contribute. The album was recorded and mixed with the support of Dan Lucas at Joplin House Studios, who provided studio time free of charge. The cover art was created by Matt’s close friend and writing partner Alice Armstrong. The title is taken from the emotional finale of last year’s sold-out benefit concert at The Stables, Wavendon, where many of the same artists joined forces to honour Matt. A live recording of that moment closes the album. All proceeds from the project will go to the cancer ward at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, where Matt was treated. The Long family has already funded a music scholarship in Matt’s name and contributed vital equipment to the hospital. Their hope is that this album will continue that support in a meaningful and lasting way. “If we can make someone else’s cancer journey a little easier, then I hope Matt would approve,” says Fiona Long. With a Little Help from My Friends features tracks from both Catfish and Matt Long & The Revenant Ones, showcasing the full range of Matt’s songwriting — from intimate blues to heavier, progressive rock. ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’ Vinyl Tracklist Side 1 Broken Man – Matt Long ft.
