Called ‘EBI’, following the cultural roots and tradition of what Baba calls Amadram, closely related to the Blues. This is hypnotic music that comes from the soul and takes us by the hand on a journey through the deepest human thoughts and feelings. The same day will be also online Baba Sissoko new website where every fan can find all the news and info about him and his long career, tour dates and main contacts. ‘ EBI’ – like the previous one “Bibisa”, with more than 20.000 views, is further proof of interest for a peculiar artist like Baba Sissoko – both in the album “Live In Basel”, recorded live at Floss Festival, were filmed along the beautiful and picturesque alleys of the historic center of Naples and at the Auditorium Novecento, thanks to the support of Fabrizio Piccolo and Paolo De Rosa, last November. In the video, produced by Gianni Di Carlo of South Side Music, we can see Baba Sissoko at work and beside being the leading voice, he plays some instruments of the Malian tradition, such as Ngoni and Tama, masterfully supported by the rhythm section of Philippe “Deguess” Lago (drums and backing vocals), Ady Thioune (Djembe, Percussion and backing vocals), Tobia Ciaglia (bass and backing vocals), with Angelo Napoli on guitar, Alessandro De Marino (clarinet and keyboards) and Domenico Canale ( violin, harmonica and backing vocals). It is something that comes from the powerful and warm voice of Baba Sissoko, the upbeat rhythm that reminds us sometimes of Jamaica and the great harmonies pouring a spicy blues all over. There’s nothing quite like music to bring people together sharing a hopeful message. In 2024 the band played many festivals such as the Floss Festival in Basel Switzerland , the Herzberg World Festival in Fulda Germany to the WinterFuse in Antwerp Belgium, the Villa Session Blues Festival in Portugal, the Lugano Blues to Bop in Switzerland , the Jerry Ricks Festival in Croatia , the Quarrata World Festival in Italy, the Kaunas Blues Festival in Lithuania, Santa Maria in the Azores, Eco Jazz Fest in Calabria e Dromos in Sardinia ...just to name a few of them. Baba Sissoko & Mediterranean Blues captivated every audience with their energetic and inspiring performances, but this is just the beginning of a long journey that will continue in 2025! Baba Sissoko hails from a prominent and ancient dynasty of griots from Mali. He is a virtuoso of the tama (talking drum), ngoni (4-stringed lute), balaphon (a kind of marimba) and calebasse (percussion) as well as playing guitar and singing. He keeps the malian musical tradition alive, but he also enjoys playing with with musicians from different genres and backgrounds such as Habib Koité, Sting, Santana, Youssou N'Dour, Salif Keita and Aka Moon.
