Billy Price Returns with Deeply Personal New Album Random Madness

Release date: may 1, 2026

Get Hip Records announces the May 1, 2026 release of Random Madness, the powerful new album from award-winning soul-blues vocalist Billy Price. Produced by Grammy Award-winning drummer and producer Tony Braunagel, the album features 11 original songs co-written by Price, marking a bold and personal evolution in his songwriting.

The release follows Price’s critically acclaimed 2024 album Person of Interest, also produced by Braunagel, which earned four nominations at the 2025 Blues Music Awards presented by the Blues Foundation, including Album of the Year.

“The success of Person of Interest inspired me to keep pushing forward as a songwriter,” says Price. “Working closely with my longtime collaborator Jim Britton, these songs reflect a wide emotional range—from lighthearted to deeply confessional—and represent the most personal work of my career. Random Madness feels like a natural continuation of what Tony and I began with the last record.”

Braunagel adds, “Not long after Person of Interest was released, we started talking about making another album together. Recording in Pittsburgh with the Billy Price Band brought a unique energy to the project. It was important to highlight the musicians who bring Billy’s music to life on stage night after night, while also expanding the sonic palette with new influences.”

Random Madness was recorded at The Vault studio in Pittsburgh, Price’s hometown, and features his longtime touring band. The lineup includes keyboardist Jim Britton, bassist Tom Valentine, and drummer Dave Dodd—core members since the late 1970s—alongside a seasoned horn section featuring trumpeter Joe Herndon and saxophonist Eric Spaulding, known for his work with Kid Andersen’s Greaseland studio.

The album also showcases standout performances from Pittsburgh guitarists Ian Arthurs and Steve Delach, acclaimed jazz trombonist Reggie Watkins, and the gospel-influenced background vocal group BGVs. Braunagel contributes drums on several tracks.

The title track, “Random Madness,” features a special guest appearance by renowned trumpeter Sean Jones, celebrated for his work with Nancy Wilson and her Grammy-winning album Turned to Blue. Jones, a prolific bandleader and recording artist, currently serves as chair of the jazz studies department at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.

Blending soul, R&B, blues-rock, jazz, and soul-blues, Random Madness highlights Price’s
