Prepare yourself for a transformative blues experience, Will Wilde has redefined what the blues harmonica can achieve. Will Wilde – Blues Is Still Alive Album Release date: February 28, 2025 Will Wilde is a true powerhouse, a harmonica virtuoso with a voice that’s every bit as commanding. His intense playing style takes the harmonica out of its traditional role, giving it the kind of spotlight usually reserved for blues-rock guitar. Drawing as much from the fierce licks of Gary Moore as from the depth of Sonny Boy Williamson, Wilde pushes the harmonica’s boundaries to reshape its place in blues music. “I’m always experimenting, trying to create new sounds and show people what the harmonica can really do,” he explains. Wilde even designed his own signature “Wilde Tuned” harmonicas, custom-tuned to play previously impossible licks. “These harmonicas let me go toe-to-toe with any blues-rock guitarist.” Wilde’s fame initially soared on YouTube, where his jaw-dropping harmonica covers of iconic guitar solos like Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird,” with over 3.5 million views earned him a dedicated following of 93K+ subscribers. His online success caught the attention of blues-rock legend Walter Trout, who invited him to contribute to Broken, an album that topped the Billboard Blues Chart. In return, Trout played on Wilde’s single “Blues Is Still Alive,” the title track of his latest album. “It was an honor to collaborate with the incredible Will Wilde,” says Trout. “He’s the best! I hope to make more music with this amazing young talent.” Wilde’s journey with the harmonica began at a house party at sixteen, when he impulsively picked up a discarded plastic Guinness harmonica and found himself hooked. “I couldn’t put it down,” he says. “I’d play along with Muddy Waters records for hours, sometimes until my lips bled. It felt like an extension of me.” Music was woven into Wilde’s life from the start; blues, soul, and rock were the soundtrack of his childhood. With a music-loving father, a jazz-and-blues-pianist grandfather, and a sister Dani Wilde who’s a respected blues singer and guitarist, his path seemed set from the beginning. Since then, Wilde has released four studio albums and one live album: Unleashed (2010), Raw Blues (2013), Live in Hamburg (2015), Bring It On Home (2018), and Bad Luck Friday (2022). He has also made guest appearances on albums by artists like Walter Trout, Toby Lee, Brave Rival, Earl Thomas, and Krissy Matthews. While his early albums leaned towards Chicago blues, his recent work showcases an intense style that draws deeply from the rock-infused blues he grew up with. In 2024, Wilde’s musicianship was celebrated with a nomination for “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the UK Blues Awards, a testament to his ever-evolving influence in the world of blues. Website:
