 Photo credit: Stefan Meekers / Keys and Chords NEW SINGLE “LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH” (live) RELEASED FRIDAY JULY 11th, 2025 NEW LIVE ALBUM – “SUNSHINE” COMING AUGUST 22nd, 2025 On Friday July 11th, Canadian Roots, Rock, and Soul band Bywater Call will release LOVE THE ONE YOU’RE WITH, their second single of 2025 and second official live release. The recording is a dynamic, extended cover of the beloved Stephen Stills tune and a favourite of Bywater Call concert goers. The live take comes from one the band’s two sold out shows at the historic Rivoli in Toronto, Canada in December 2024. “This is song a great representation of our live show and the chemistry between all the band members,” says lead singer Meghan Parnell. “You really get to hear the power of the vocal and then the craftsmenship of the instrumentalists as I step away from the mic and really let them do their thing. No live version of this song is the same, every version is a journey.” This release accompanies the official announcement that a new live album titled SUNSHINE will be released on Friday August 22nd. The album will be available on all digital streaming platforms as well as in CD and Vinyl formats. SUNSHINE is the first live album from Bywater Call. A mix of newly released music including the cover of Stephen Stills' LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH and the funky new original title-track SUNSHINE (previously released as a single in May), fan favourites AS IF, SIGN OF PEACE and EVERYBODY KNOWS from 2024's SHEPHERD Album and BRING ME DOWN from their 2019 Self-Titled Debut Album, SUNSHINE the album is an epic, energetic peek into the band’s live show. Songs feature extended one-of-a-kind jams, fiery solos, and haunting introductions from shows in Toronto, Canada, Woodstock, New York, USA and Newbury, UK. On this album, the band’s (Dave Barnes – Guitar/ Slide, Mike Meusel – Bass, Bruce McCarthy – Drums, John Kervin – Keys, Julian Nalli – Sax, Stephen Dyte – Trumpet) ability to improvise, innovate and play off each other shines through, all the while showcasing the gritty, dynamic and emotive vocals of lead singer Meghan Parnell. It is a true reflection of the heart and sweat poured out on stage every night. SUNSHINE was captured and mixed by drummer Bruce McCarthy and mastered by Kristian Montano (Montano Mastering).
Often transcending genres, Bywater Call is known for their dynamic, emotional live shows, featuring powerful vocals and exciting interplay between all band members. In their August 2024 issue, Henry Yates of Classic Rock Magazine made 2024’s Shepherd his Album of the Month in his Blues Roundup, and said it was “an inventive and uncommonly catchy record,” and added, “the sense of a band on the brink is unmistakable.” The album was also selected as the Top Blues Album of the Year in the magazine’s year end round up.
