Canyon Lights drop new single “Drivin’ Me,” off their debut album Breathe Easy, out August 29. Blues-rock trio Canyon Lights have just released their newest single, “Drivin’ Me,” the latest preview of their debut album Breathe Easy, arriving August 29th. Drummer Tim Carman shares insight into the creative process behind the song: "The lyrics came together quickly, but it took time to lock in the right feel. In the studio, with co-producer Dylan Brown, we landed on a driving snare-and-tambourine groove paired with a Beatles-inspired guitar line. It quickly became one of our favorite tracks on the album." The track also features Johnny Stachela (of Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel) on slide guitar and channels the spirit of '70s Southern rock, with a modern blues-rock edge. Led by Pat Faherty and Tim Carman, both formerly of GA-20, Canyon Lights fuse classic rock ‘n’ roll energy with swampy Americana and gritty blues to create a sound that’s both familiar and fresh. Longtime friends and collaborators since 2018, Pat Faherty and Tim Carman have spent thousands of hours on stage together, touring the world and lighting up venues with their explosive performances in GA-20, the Boston-based blues powerhouse that landed three #1 albums on the Billboard Blues Chart. By 2023, after years of life on the road, the duo found themselves reconnecting over a shared passion for '70s rock legends like Mountain, Thin Lizzy, and James Gang. Pat had a batch of rough song ideas, and Tim brought forward personal lyrics he had been holding onto. The creative chemistry was instant. What started as a casual writing session quickly evolved into something deeper a sound that reached beyond blues and carved out a space all its own. In early 2024, Pat and Tim flew to Denver to bring their ideas to life, recording with their longtime friend Dylan Brown, who co-produced and engineered the sessions. From those sessions, Canyon Lights was born. “These songs are among the most personal we’ve ever written,” share Pat and Tim. “When you spend 200 days a year on the road, you live through separation, loss, excitement, and loneliness. This album carries all of that. We poured everything we had into it, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.” Pat handled all bass duties on the record, but as the project took shape, they knew they needed a third member to round out the live sound. After reaching out to their music community, one name kept surfacing: Heather Gillis. They flew to Nashville to meet and jam with Heather, a multi-instrumentalist with a deep résumé, including tours with Butch Trucks and Lindsay Lou, and her own band, Wolf Twin. The chemistry was immediate. While in town, the trio recorded a live version of their original track “Seventh Son,” released on December 5, 2024. Momentum built quickly. After the single dropped, Canyon Lights signed with Burning House Management and Madison House Booking Agency, landing a slate of national tour dates including a coveted opening slot for the legendary George Thorogood & The Destroyers, with more dates scheduled later this summer. The buzz is building around Canyon Lights a band rooted in timeless rock ‘n’ roll spirit, fueled by raw emotion, and ready to blaze their own trail. And this is just the beginning.
