That connection pulses through every track of their forthcoming album, Our Time to Ride. Produced by Eric Corne—renowned for his work with John Mayall, Sugaray Rayford, and Joe Louis Walker—the record was crafted in studios across Montreal, Los Angeles, and Houston. It’s a bold and soulful statement: a fusion of blues, R&B, and gritty rock, rooted in raw emotion and live-wire energy. The lead single, Love You Just the Same, is a blues-rock testament to enduring commitment, capturing the essence of the duo's journey. Annika Chambers, a Houston native, began her musical path in the pews of a church choir before enlisting in the U.S. Army. During her 7 ½ years of service including two overseas tours she discovered the healing power of the blues. That discovery set her on a new course. Her 2014 debut, Making My Mark, earned her a Blues Foundation nomination for Best New Artist. Since then, she has collected three Blues Music Awards for Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year (2019, 2022, 2024), with a fourth nomination this year. “Every note I sing carries the weight of my journey,” Chambers says a truth listeners feel in every note. Paul DesLauriers, a native of Cornwall, Ontario, was strumming a guitar by the age of five and performing live by 15. Inspired by legends like B.B. King and Robert Johnson, he’s forged a distinctive sound as a guitarist and bandleader. His accolades include six Maple Blues Awards and a second-place finish at the 2016 International Blues Challenge. In 2018, a traumatic brain injury tested his spirit but only deepened his bond with music. “No matter what life throws at you, when you pick up a guitar, it reminds you who you are,” he reflects. Together, Chambers and DesLauriers are more than a band. They’re a movement championing the enduring power of blues and soul while telling their personal story through electrifying performances and heartfelt songwriting.
