Produced by Shooter Jennings and co-produced by Crockett, the album brings the trilogy to its full arc across 20 tracks. Like its predecessors — Lonesome Drifter (March 2025) and Dollar A Day (August 2025) — the project continues Crockett’s cinematic Western vision, including the autobiographical 19th track, “Me and Shooter.” Though 20 tracks suggest an expansive collection, five are designated as thematic interludes. Three reference Billy McLane, the trilogy’s central protagonist, while two carry the title “Rancho Deluxe.” Several of these shorter pieces function as recurring instrumental motifs, reinforcing the project’s sweeping, filmic atmosphere. The groundwork for Age Of The Ram was laid on Dollar A Day, which featured the instrumental “Age Of The Ram” — a clear precursor to the new release. The album’s rich Western tone resonated widely, earning Crockett a nomination for Best Traditional Country Album at the Grammy Awards. While Crockett has kept details close to the vest, song titles like “Lonesome Dove,” “I Shot Jesse James,” “Fastest Gun Alive,” and “Powder River” hint that the Western narrative thread remains firmly intact. The track “Low Down Freedom” also raises the question of whether it revisits the song recorded by Waylon Jennings and written by Billy Joe Shaver. What is certain is the arrival of the lead single, “Kentucky Too Long,” accompanied by a lyric video — notably not filmed in Kentucky. Written by Crockett, the song and album were recorded with his touring band, The Blue Drifters: guitarist Alexis Sanchez, multi-instrumentalist Kullen Fox (keys and trumpet), pedal steel player Nathan Fleming, drummer Mario Valdez, and bassist Jacob Marchese. With Age Of The Ram, Crockett brings the Sagebrush Trilogy to a close — an ambitious, thematically unified body of work that blends classic country storytelling with a cinematic Western sweep.
