Colter Wall Saddles Up With Pure Country on Memories and Empties

Release date:
November 14th

Colter Wall has officially announced his next album, Memories and Empties, set to arrive November 14th via LaHonda Records and it’s shaping up to be pure, unfiltered country. No surprise there. Wall has always leaned heavily into cowboy and Western traditions, but this record is said to lean even deeper into that lineage.

According to early descriptions, Wall is “carrying the torch of traditional country music’s legacy beyond Nashville’s commercial influence,” delivering a set of drinking songs and blue-collar stories built for honky-tonks, back porches, barrooms, and pickup trucks. The vibe draws heavily from the classic ’70s country era—the kind of songs that soundtrack dawn-shift diner breakfasts and Saturday nights that last well into Sunday morning.

The album was co-produced by Wall and longtime collaborator Patrick Lyons, and recorded at the storied RCA Studio A in Nashville—the same rooms where plenty of country legends left their mark. The players featured are members of Wall’s own touring outfit, The Scary Prairie Boys, bringing an authentic, lived-in feel to the sessions.

Unlike some of his past albums, which often featured traditional covers, Wall wrote nearly the entire tracklist himself. The only exception is a tribute to Ian Tyson with a cover of “Summer Wages,” closing the album in homage to one of Western music’s greats.

With so many artists trying to cash in on “country” lately, Colter Wall remains the real deal and the community will no doubt welcome this one with open arms.
