Eddie 9V Announces New Album Down Here, Shares Groove-Driven Lead Single "Blowin' Up" Release date album: november 6, 2026 Atlanta blues-rock standout Eddie 9V has announced his new album, DOWN HERE, due as his debut release on Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound label. Produced by the GRAMMY-winning Black Keys frontman, the record was tracked at Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville and finds Eddie 9V leaning into his signature mix of Southern soul, blues and rock 'n' roll. The album's first single, "Blowin' Up," debuted exclusively on SiriusXM's The Spectrum on July 14 before receiving its official release on July 16. Built around an infectious groove, the track offers listeners their first taste of Eddie 9V's collaboration with Auerbach. "It's my favorite song on the album. It's got such a good groove," Eddie 9V says. DOWN HERE emerged from a series of songwriting sessions at Easy Eye Sound, marking a new creative chapter for the Atlanta guitarist, singer and songwriter, who had previously written and produced much of his own material. During the process, he collaborated with Marcus King alongside acclaimed Nashville songwriters Pat McLaughlin and Daniel Tashian. "I write all the time, but it was the first time I've ever done a writing session in Nashville," Eddie 9V explains. "You're dealing with songwriters that are at the top of their game and that was incredible for me. I learned to focus solely on the writing." For Auerbach, the emphasis on songwriting translated into more spontaneous, energetic performances once the band entered the studio. "We spent more time writing than we did recording, which meant we could focus on getting a good take," Auerbach says. "It was all about capturing that magic moment, that fire. Eddie just killed it, especially when he was playing those solos live. We were all feeding off his energy because not only is he a great singer, his guitar playing is also incredible." Raised in Atlanta, Eddie 9V picked up the guitar at just six years old before a life-changing encounter with the blues through Howlin' Wolf's legendary 1966 Newport Folk Festival performance. "Something just exploded in me when I saw that clip, and it set me on a different path," he recalls. After honing his craft with marathon club sets across Atlanta and extensive regional touring, Eddie 9V released his debut album, Left My Soul In Memphis, in 2019. He followed it with Little Black Flies (2021), Capricorn (2023)—recorded at the famed Capricorn Studios in Macon, Georgia—and Saratoga (2024). According to Eddie 9V, DOWN HERE captures the chemistry of musicians creating together in real time. "I hope when people hear this record they feel the soul of it," he says. "I want them to feel like they're sitting in the studio with us as we're making music." The guitarist also describes the album as documenting a period of personal and artistic transformation. "I'm at a transformational point in my life right now," Eddie 9V says. "I'm having to catch myself and remember to enjoy the moment." He adds: "Making this record has taught me how to put my guard down and just have fun rather than worrying about things. I think that's what you can feel on the record—a sense of freedom."
