Elise Frank: Raw Blues, Fierce Songwriting, and the Fire Behind I Didn’t Pay For It Release date: January 23, 2026 Elise Frank is an artist you don’t forget. A fearless songwriter, a powerful vocalist, and a magnetic performer who gives everything until the final note fades. After five years touring internationally under the name FRANK, she now steps forward with her second full-length solo album, I Didn’t Pay For It a raw, uncompromising record that captures her at full force. Recorded in one intense week in the fall of 2025, the album rejects polish in favor of urgency and emotion. Minimalist and barely produced by design, it crackles with human imperfection. Born Élise Lounici in Tarbes, near the Spanish border, Frank believes blues should be organic and honest. “We chose the takes where something was happening,” she says. “My only goal is to convey emotion—without artifice.” Frank is joined by longtime collaborators Sébastien Gaschard (drums) and Josselin Fleury (bass), along with acclaimed guitarist Laura Chavez (Vanessa Collier, Mitch Ryder). The sound is guitar-driven and bold an old Strat straight into the amp ranging from moody, slow-burn originals reminiscent of Cowboy Junkies and Grace Slick to the explosive energy of her take on “Bullfrog Blues.” Written over four years on the road, the songs draw from real life, freedom, love, loneliness, and grit. From the defiant “She’s a Bird” to the biting “Car Dealer” and the introspective “How Did I,” I Didn’t Pay For It is the sound of musicians in a room, fully committed. Raw, emotional, and unapologetic, the album captures the fire that drives Elise Frank and makes clear she’s just getting started. Tracks: 01. I’m Smoking (4:42) 02. How Did I (4:07) 03.
