Emily Scott Robinson Announces New Album Appalachia, Out January 30, 2026 Finding an artist who can match the depth and refinement of singer-songwriter Emily Scott Robinson is no easy task. A past Saving Country Music Song of the Year winner for her acclaimed track “The Dress” and the creator of two albums that earned unprecedented 9+ ratings, Robinson has firmly established herself as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Americana. News of a new album from the North Carolina–born, Colorado-based songwriter is reason enough for attention. Set for release on January 30, 2026, via John Prine’s Oh Boy Records, Robinson’s forthcoming album Appalachia is poised to set a new benchmark for world-class songwriting in the year ahead. Produced by Josh Kaufman (Bonnie Light Horseman), the record was captured in the atmospheric setting of Dreamland Recording Studios, a historic 1896 church overlooking the Hudson River in rural New York. The 10-song collection will also include a special duet with John Paul White. Before devoting herself fully to music, Robinson worked as a social worker in Colorado. Her shift into songwriting came with the realization that music, too, could be a vessel for healing, empathy, and meaningful change. “Every time I make a record, I weave a kind of prayer into it,” Robinson says. “I ask that the songs find their way to everyone who needs them. I want them to be of service, to help people discover and experience joy. If my music can do that, I’ll die happy—hopefully far in the future. But that’s what I want these songs to be. It feels like a ministry—my ministry.” The album’s title track—highlighting Robinson’s lyrical precision, soaring vocals, and refined guitar work—was inspired by the devastation left by Hurricane Helene in 2024. A proud daughter of North Carolina, Robinson channels resilience, loss, and generational strength through the song’s central character and through Appalachian heritage itself. Many of Robinson’s works are vivid character studies. In “Appalachia,” she writes from the perspective of a mother—Mother Nature. “Time Traveler” centers on her grandmother’s experience with dementia. Across the album, Robinson shines a compassionate light on the struggles, quiet triumphs, and emotional truths that shape the human experience. With Appalachia, Emily Scott Robinson continues to affirm her place among the most evocative and essential songwriters of her generation. TRACK LIST: 1. Hymn for the Unholy 2. Appalachia 3.
