 Eric Clapton Announces Journeyman Deluxe Edition Featuring Previously Unreleased Tracks; Shares New Single “Forever” Bushbranch/Surfdog Records has confirmed the upcoming release of Eric Clapton’s remastered special edition of his landmark 1989 album Journeyman. The new Journeyman: Deluxe Edition will include four previously unreleased bonus tracks and will be available digitally, as well as on CD and vinyl, beginning November 21. As part of the announcement, Clapton has shared “Forever,” a never-before-heard track written by Jerry Williams, accompanied by an official music video released today. Eric Clapton’s Journeyman: Deluxe Edition reimagines the acclaimed 1989 release with three previously unreleased tracks from the original recording sessions, plus an additional bonus cut. Alongside these newly uncovered songs, the album features enduring classics such as “Pretending,” “Bad Love,” and “Running on Faith,” with standout guest appearances from George Harrison, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Daryl Hall, Robert Cray, and more. The extensive liner notes reveal how the bonus material came to light: “A few years ago, Clapton was on YouTube, just poking around looking at old footage and songs, and found that fans had uploaded outtakes and bonus cuts of songs from the Journeyman sessions. After a search through Clapton’s vaults, these four bonus cuts are now on the album, mixed and mastered anew for this edition.” They also reflect on the significance of the era in Clapton’s life and music: “Journeyman finds Clapton overcoming battles with alcohol, drugs, and record labels, while celebrating the thing that always kept him running: his endless capacity to chase his music on whatever journey it takes him on, reflecting his life back at him with his guitar playing.” Speaking on the release, Clapton himself notes: “Journeyman … it’s what I want to be known as.
