Robbert Duijf, Winner of the 2024 European Blues Challenge, releases a new single. “First Train Out” is an ode to his hometown. The once rich and prosperous city was empty,
it had reached the bottom. The coal was no longer needed The only thing its inhabitants wanted was to leave town on the first train out.
 
In the 80s and 90s, the city faced the scars of the closing of the mines. Robbert remembers especially well the mass departure of the youth from the city, looking for a better future and, for those left behind, a gigantic drug problem … 
 
The single gives a nice foretaste of the full album “Silver Spoon”, which will be released on Friday, March 21, 2025 on CD, transparent vinyl and digital services worldwide.
