Over the past 30 years, Galactic has become a vital part of New Orleans' music scene, constantly evolving through collaborations and community involvement—most notably as owners of the iconic Tipitina’s venue. Their new album, Audience With the Queen (out April 11, 2025), marks a major milestone: a full-length collaboration with soul legend Irma Thomas.

At 84, Thomas lends her powerful voice to all nine tracks, written specifically for her by Galactic. The album blends her rich R&B legacy with the band’s signature sound, touching on themes of social justice ("Lady Liberty") and musical celebration ("Where I Belong"). The project builds on their past collaboration in 2010 and showcases the band’s creative growth, as well as Thomas’ enduring vocal brilliance.
