Gráinne Duffy Releases New Single “Streets of Love” Ahead of Upcoming Album What Am I Supposed to Do Release date: may 22, 2026. Irish guitarist, singer, and songwriter Gráinne Duffy returns with “Streets of Love,” a powerful new single from her forthcoming album What Am I Supposed to Do, set for release on May 22, 2026. The track features an all-star lineup of world-class musicians, including acclaimed drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney), bassist Jørgen Carlsson (Gov’t Mule), keyboardist Peter Levin (Blind Boys of Alabama), guitarist Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), and Duffy’s longtime lead guitarist Paul Sherry. “Streets of Love” is a vibrant rock and roll statement, blending blues and soul influences with Duffy’s signature grit and emotional depth. Her commanding, soulful vocal anchors the track, delivering both intensity and warmth. Backed by a tight, groove-driven rhythm section, the song captures a dynamic energy that feels destined for the world’s biggest stages. Lyrically, Duffy balances the turbulence of modern global events with a message of hope, focusing on the enduring beauty of human connection. The song invites listeners to shift perspective—away from chaos and toward the everyday moments of kindness and love that define our shared experience. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Duffy explains: “This song was inspired by a beautiful bike trip around Amsterdam. I was there to see Lucinda Williams at one of my favourite venues, the Paradiso. Cycling through the city, I found myself observing everyday life—people greeting each other, lovers saying goodbye, families connecting in small but meaningful ways. It felt peaceful and deeply human. We’re often overwhelmed by negative news, but there’s another side to life found in these ordinary, beautiful interactions. That’s what this song is about—my internal hippie speaking out, I suppose.” Co-produced by Justin Stanley and Marc Ford, What Am I Supposed to Do channels the spirit of 1970s British rock and soul while maintaining Duffy’s contemporary edge. The album follows her critically acclaimed release Dirt Woman Blues (2023), produced by Chris Goldsmith and Marc Ford, which reached #1 on the U.S. Roots Music Report Top 50—her most successful album to date. Her previous releases include Voodoo Blues (2020), Where I Belong (2017), Gráinne Duffy Live (2015), and Out of the Dark (2007). Duffy’s rising international profile has led to headline performances across the United States, including shows in Chicago and New Orleans, as well as appearances at major festivals such as Bluesapalooza, Telluride Blues & Brews, the W.C. Handy Blues Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Australia’s Woodford Folk Festival, Canada’s Tremblant International Blues Festival, and India’s Mahindra Blues Festival. With an expanding global touring schedule—including U.S. dates and performances aboard the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise—she continues to captivate audiences worldwide. Duffy was also named Best Modern Roots Artist at the 2021 Independent Blues Awards. An accomplished international performer, she has appeared on BBC and other television platforms. Her music blends blues, rock, roots, and soul into a distinctive and authentic sound—honoring tradition while pushing the genre forward with confidence and originality. Opmerkingen zijn gesloten.
