Grammy Winner Trey Hensley Drops His Highly-Anticipated Single “Can’t Outrun The Blues”

Critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, and guitarist Trey Hensley has officially unveiled his brand-new solo single, “Can’t Outrun The Blues,” now streaming everywhere via Pinecastle Records. The powerful new track arrives as another major milestone in Hensley’s celebrated career, fresh off his recent honor as 2025 IBMA Guitar Player of the Year  a title he also earned in 2023.

Co-written by Hensley and Bobby Starnes, “Can’t Outrun The Blues” was produced by seven-time Grammy winner Brent Maher (known for his work with The Judds, Kenny Rogers, and Merle Haggard) and recorded live in the studio with an all-star band featuring Stuart Duncan (fiddle, mandolin), Marc Rogers (bass), John Alvey (drums), and John Cowan (harmony vocals). Engineered and mastered by Charles Yingling, the song highlights Hensley’s signature fiery flatpicking guitar and soulful, emotion-packed vocals — a raw and heartfelt performance that perfectly captures the track’s gritty message.

A force across bluegrass, Americana, folk, and roots music, Hensley first rose to prominence as one-half of an award-winning duo with Rob Ickes, before going on to collaborate with an extraordinary roster of icons including Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Dolly Parton, Taj Mahal, and Peter Frampton, among many others. Earlier this year, he kicked off 2025 with a Grammy win alongside Taj Mahal for Swingin’ Live at the Church in Tulsa.

With more than 300,000 followers across social media and an eagerly awaited full-length album slated for release in March 2026, Hensley’s star continues to rise and “Can’t Outrun The Blues” is the next bold chapter in his remarkable journey.
