​There is a magic in music that is born in front of an audience, where risk and emotion become active ingredients. From this alchemy emerges “Thirty Eight,” Greg Coulson’s new live single, recorded on the stage of Peggy’s Skylight in Nottingham.

The track, a preview of the album “Greg Coulson: Live at Peggy’s Skylight” , blends retro soul, blues, and classic rock, charmingly exploring the attraction to someone more experienced.

A natural groove, guitar riffs, and Hammond solos converse with Coulson’s expressive voice, while the arrangements are given room to breathe, creating a relaxed yet immersive atmosphere infused with subtle jazz and funk nuances.

​Recorded at the renowned jazz club Peggy’s Skylight in Nottingham, the album captures Greg Coulson and his band Mat Day (guitar), Sam Round (drums/producer) and John Thompson (bass) at full throttle. From soulful vocals and tight, driving grooves to daring improvisation and the unmistakable warmth of his vintage Wurlitzer 200A and Hammond organ, the performance is both electrifying and deeply expressive. The sold-out show highlights Greg’s rare ability to blur the lines between blues, soul, jazz, and classic funk, delivering songs with technical finesse and genuine emotional depth.

Already celebrated across Europe as a compelling live performer, Greg also tours internationally as the newest keyboardist for Morcheeba, bringing his distinctive sound to major festivals and venues around the world.

Alongside his solo career, Greg continues to write and produce from his creative base in Northampton at Foundry Street Studio, where he refines a signature style grounded in groove, storytelling, and musical authenticity.
