Heather Anne Lomax launches a bold new era with the release of her latest single, "Step Aside," the first taste of her forthcoming album, Who Do You Think You Are.

Fueled by soaring guitars, powerhouse vocals, and the swagger of classic '70s rock, "Step Aside" sets the tone for an album rooted in reinvention, instinct, and carving your own path.

"I wanted to write a bombastic barn burner," Lomax says. "It's actually based on my move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas — 'I'm jumpin' off a cliff now… won't someone catch me, I'm taking a dive, can't keep on living like I'm half alive.'"

Blending rock, blues, and soul with the heartfelt storytelling that's become her trademark, Who Do You Think You Are was born from an unexpected spark. After adding songs by Los Angeles rock outfit Broken Homes to her live set following the release of her previous album, Lomax found herself inspired by the chemistry and creative freedom those performances unlocked. That moment evolved into a deeply collaborative recording project centered on friendship, spontaneity, and musicians creating together in real time.

Recorded live at Love Street Studios in Los Angeles, the album captures the raw energy of a band performing together in the room, prioritizing emotion and authenticity over studio perfection. Produced by Zachary Ross (Rose's Pawn Shop), mixed by Jason Hiller (The Freewheelers), and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, YES, Def Leppard), the record features an impressive lineup of musicians, including Rob Humphries, Jordan West, David Goodstein, Jamie Douglas, Ty Bailie, Jerry Borge, Carey Frank, Fuzzbee Morse, Lily Elise, and Mary Scholz.

The album consists entirely of original material, with one notable exception: a cover of a song written by Lomax's late friend Michael Doman of Broken Homes, serving as a heartfelt tribute to his enduring influence.

Originally from Kansas City and now based in Las Vegas, Lomax has spent the past decade forging her own path through Americana, country rock, blues, and rock & roll. Along the way, she's shared stages with artists including Wynonna Judd, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, John Hiatt, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Joan Osborne, and Blood, Sweat & Tears, while earning international radio support.

Lomax's personal journey has been just as compelling as her musical one. Adopted at birth, she later discovered her biological family's deep artistic roots, including legendary folklorist Alan Lomax. Reclaiming her birth name marked a powerful personal and creative turning point, embracing a musical heritage that had always been part of her story.

Following the critical acclaim of her 2020 album All This Time and the success of Heavy Load—released under her former name Michael-Ann--Who Do You Think You Are promises to be Lomax's most personal and confident work yet.
