Jack Browning Returns with Painted Skies, His Most Adventurous Work Yet

release date: september 16, 2026

London-based singer‑songwriter Jack Browning will return this autumn with Painted Skies, his sophomore album and first release for Nashville’s Too Fine Records, arriving September 16, 2026. The record follows his acclaimed 2023 debut Red Eye Radio and marks a bold expansion of the sound he’s been carving out across the transatlantic Americana scene.

Produced by Browning and Dan Lucas at The Joplin House in Kent, Painted Skies leans deeper into the blend of country, folk, blues, and rock ’n’ roll that defined his debut, while widening its emotional and sonic scope. The album traces life on the road, family histories, identity, and the slow‑burn evolution of a songwriter finding his footing. Browning keeps the performances raw and unvarnished, favouring feel over polish and letting the room itself seep into the recordings.

That ethos is clear from the opening seconds of the lead single, “Speak Your Mind (But Ride A Fast Horse)”, which launches with an unedited drum count‑in before settling into a swaggering southern‑rock strut. Defiant yet self‑aware, it sets the tone for a record unafraid of hard truths or thorny conversations.

Across the album, Browning moves between outward observation and inward reflection. “High Hopes” confronts mental health and inherited struggles, sparked by a childhood photograph. “Muhlenberg County Stars” channels the fleeting connections and roadside revelations of his first US tour. The title track, co‑written with Dutch songwriter Mercy John, closes the album with quiet optimism — a meditation on creative partnership and the courage to trust a path with no guarantees.

Painted Skies arrives after a period of rapid momentum for Browning. Since Red Eye Radio, he’s toured extensively across the UK, Europe, and the US, appearing at festivals including C2C, Healing Appalachia, Laurel Cove, Black Deer, TakeRoot, Ramblin’ Roots, and Red Rooster, and sharing stages with Asleep At The Wheel, Corb Lund, Vincent Neil Emerson, JP Harris, and Willi Carlisle.

Beyond music, Browning has built a parallel reputation as a fine artist, with international exhibitions — from the Taos Art Museum Summer Gala to sold‑out Texas shows and Mark Maggiori’s Far West Show — and commissions from Americana mainstay The White Buffalo.

With Painted Skies, Browning cements himself as one of the most compelling emerging voices in modern Americana, pairing lived experience with sharp songwriting and a sound that feels both deeply rooted and quietly adventurous.
