Joanne Shaw Taylor has unveiled her latest single, ‘Tired Of Being Right’, a poignant new release via Journeyman Records that digs deep into the difficult realities of knowing when a relationship has run its course.

Blending the tenderness of a lullaby with subtle gospel influences, the track finds Taylor delivering one of her most emotionally resonant performances to date. Delicate verses are punctuated by cutting guitar lines as she navigates the heartbreak, frustration and eventual acceptance that come with a fading connection.

‘Tired Of Being Right’ is the latest preview of Taylor’s forthcoming album, The Trouble With Love, due for release on 23 October. Across the record, the British blues-rock guitarist and singer explores the many faces of love — from its exhilarating highs to its devastating lows — through a rich mix of blues, rock and soul-infused pop.

Speaking about the song, Taylor explained: “Sometimes you have to give yourself clarity and permission to leave. Sometimes people will never change no matter how long you invest in them.”

Those sentiments are reflected in the accompanying video, which intercuts Taylor’s performance with the story of a couple trapped in a deteriorating relationship. Mirroring the song’s emotional push and pull, both parties ultimately arrive at the same painful realisation echoed in the lyrics.

The single follows a string of tracks released ahead of the album, including the fiery title track ‘The Trouble With Love’, featuring Joe Bonamassa, the emotionally charged ‘What Good Is My Love?’ with Orianthi, and the blues-gospel-fuelled anthem ‘Hell Or High Water’.

More recently, Taylor shared ‘This Is Who I Am’, a striking reinterpretation of Celeste’s song about self-acceptance and identity. Originally selected for the spy thriller series The Day Of The Jackal, the track receives a dramatic blues-rock makeover in Taylor’s hands.

“Kevin brought this cover of Celeste’s beautiful song to the table,” Taylor said. “It’s such a beautifully written track, for me about acceptance and self-love. I hope we’ve done it justice.”
Opening with brooding piano and guitar, Taylor transforms the song into a powerful slow-burner, culminating in a soaring guitar solo backed by cinematic orchestration. The result is a bold and emotionally charged reimagining that showcases both her vocal and instrumental strengths.

The Trouble With Love will be available on CD, 180-gram dusty rose vinyl and digital formats.
