Kyshona – Legacy Release date: May 23, 2025 Kyshona is an artist ignited by untold stories, and the capacity of those stories to thread connection in every community With a background as a licensed music therapist, the curiosity of a writer, the patience of a friend, the vision of a social entrepreneur, the determination of an activist, and the soul-stirring voice of a singer, Kyshona is unwavering in her mission to harness the healing power of music. She uses her voice and songs to uplift those who have been silenced or overlooked. Through songwriting sessions with individuals and groups who feel excluded or marginalized, she strives to bridge divides and foster connection. Drawing inspiration from her ancestral roots, family history, and the communities that shaped her, Kyshona’s highly anticipated album, Legacy, captures her deeply personal journey of discovery and storytelling. To bring this vision to life, Kyshona and Moore curated a diverse team of engineers, musicians, vocalists, and special guests. The album was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee, at Southern Grooves Studio—founded by GRAMMY-winning producer Matt Ross-Spang, who also contributed as a supporting engineer on the project. With guest contributions from Ruthie Foster, Keb Mo’, Odessa Settles, and more, the album features songs co-written with Aaron Lee Tasjan, Brittney Spencer, Caroline Spence, Jess Nolan, and others, including Kyshona’s brother, Kelvin Armstrong, her late grandfather, Hawthorne “H.T.” Armstrong.
