Laura Chavez Announces New Album My Voice, Out January 30, 2026 on Ruf Records

Award-winning guitarist, songwriter, and producer Laura Chavez returns with her powerful new album My Voice, set for release on January 30, 2026 via Ruf Records. A Blues Music Award winner for Instrumentalist – Guitar, Chavez delivers a bold and deeply personal statement that reflects both her musical roots and her unmistakable voice as an artist.

Rooted firmly in the Texas and Chicago blues traditions, My Voice draws its strength from gritty grooves, expressive guitar work, and a raw emotional core. At the same time, Chavez expands the palette with strong influences of soul and rhythm & blues, creating a sound that feels classic and contemporary at once.

From the opening notes of “Born on the Bayou,” Chavez establishes the album’s confident tone—direct, groove-driven, and rich in character. Songs like “Wanderer” showcase her dynamic phrasing and melodic sensibility, while “La Llorona” brings a haunting, atmospheric depth that highlights her ability to tell stories without restraint. Throughout the album, Chavez lets her guitar speak as loudly as her words, balancing fire, finesse, and feeling in every track.

My Voice plays like a musical road trip, guided by instinct, experience, and a deep love for the blues. Each song unfolds naturally, driven by strong rhythms and memorable melodies, revealing an artist who knows exactly who she is and where she’s headed.

A Guitarist in the Spotlight
Over the past decade, Laura Chavez has steadily built a formidable reputation on the international blues scene. She has collaborated with an impressive range of artists, including Deborah Coleman, Candye Kane, Dani Wilde, The Mannish Boys, Mike Ledbetter, Monster Mike Welch, Vanessa Collier, Casey Hensley, and Whitney Shay. Her playing—fiery yet controlled, soulful yet precise—has made her one of the most respected guitarists of her generation.

Chavez’s work has been recognized by the Blues Music Awards, where she received a nomination for Instrumentalist – Guitar in 2021 and won the award in 2023. With My Voice, she builds on that momentum, delivering an album that captures her growth as a musician, songwriter, and producer.
