Marc Broussard Pays Tribute to Ray Charles with New Single “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” and Continues His Philanthropic Mission

Critically acclaimed Louisiana singer-songwriter Marc Broussard launches the next chapter of his celebrated philanthropic series with the release of “Hallelujah, I Love Her So”—a spirited and soulful reimagining of the Ray Charles classic. The track is the lead single from Broussard’s forthcoming album, S.O.S. 5: Songs of the ’50s, produced by Justin Tockett and Bobby Schneck Jr. and set for release this fall.

Originally written and recorded by Ray Charles in 1956, the song gets a fresh burst of energy through Broussard’s dynamic interpretation, setting the tone for an album steeped in the timeless sounds of the 1950s (with one exception from 1966). As with all entries in his S.O.S. (Save Our Soul) series, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Love of People, a Lafayette, Louisiana–based nonprofit dedicated to community support in Broussard’s hometown.

“Ray Charles’ soulful blend of gospel and R&B has always deeply resonated with me, inspiring my own musical journey,” Broussard reflects. “The song’s infectious energy and heartfelt lyrics capture the pure joy of love, which I wanted to celebrate and share with my audience. My aim was to honor Charles’ groundbreaking influence while infusing my own style and passion into the performance. This song is a tribute to the timeless power of soul music and its ability to connect people across generations.”

Broussard’s charitable partner for this project, Love of People, holds a deeply personal place in his heart. “Love of People is a charity that my wife, Sonya, and I have personally supported and volunteered for over the years,” he shares. “I have witnessed their impactful work firsthand and am thrilled to formalize a partnership with them. The goal of all S.O.S. projects is to maximize the funds we raise for our partner organizations. With the tremendous success of Cry to Me from S.O.S. 2: Soul on a Mission, I felt that revisiting the music of the 1950s was a natural choice. It’s also clear to me that this era of music remains beloved by my fans and music lovers worldwide.”

John Williams, Founder and President of Love of People, adds: “Marc Broussard’s unwavering support over the past eight years has been instrumental in the mission and growth of Love of People. From his generous donations to our Community Thanksgiving and Community Christmas Gumbo, to his deep involvement with our Blue Monday Mission, Marc has shown up not just as an artist, but as a true partner in service.”

The single features an all-star lineup: Marc Broussard (vocals), Bobby Schneck Jr. (guitar), Devin Kerrigan (bass), Mike Lemmler (keyboards), Terry Scott (drums), Jason Parfait (horns), and Calvin Turner (strings).
