M.C. Records is excited to announce the release of Guy Davis' album, The Legend of Sugarbelly (MC-0094), on August 23. This album marks the fifth collaboration between Guy Davis and M.C. Records.

The Legend of Sugarbelly is the highly anticipated follow-up to Davis' 2021 Grammy-nominated album, Be Ready When I Call You. Featuring 13 tracks, this release showcases Davis' storytelling prowess with 10 original compositions.

In addition, the album includes three poignant covers arranged by Davis, originally by Sam Chatmon, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Leadbelly. Throughout The Legend of Sugarbelly, Davis exhibits his expertise on various instruments, including 6- and 12-string guitars, mandolin, harmonica, and 5- and 6-string banjos. He is accompanied by Professor Louie on organ and Chris James on mandolin and 6-string banjo.

A two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues Album, Guy Davis is a multifaceted artist—musician, actor, author, and songwriter. For over 40 years, Davis has blended Roots, Blues, Folk, Rock, Spoken Word, and World Music into his unique style, addressing social injustice, historical events, everyday struggles, and personal relationships.
