Meredith Moon Announces New Album From Here To The Sea Out Now on Compass Records Acclaimed Canadian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Meredith Moon has announced the release of her highly anticipated third studio album, From Here To The Sea, available now via Compass Records. The new collection marks Moon’s first release with the Nashville-based label and showcases a bold evolution in her artistry. Produced and recorded between Ontario and Nashville by Grammy-winning producer Colin Linden (Lucinda Williams, T-Bone Burnett, Bruce Cockburn), the album expands Moon’s sonic landscape beyond the Appalachian old-time roots of her 2022 release Constellations. Incorporating elements of blues, folk, folk-rock, and even hints of old-time jazz, the project features an impressive roster of collaborators including Rebecca Lovell (Larkin Poe), Lillie Mae Rische & Dominic Davis (Jack White), Julian Taylor, George Receli (Bob Dylan), and Jerry Douglas, among others. The album opens with “East City Blues,” a loping, modern-day folk/blues number that highlights Moon’s nimble vocals and intricate fingerstyle guitar. Written while living in Peterborough, Ontario, the song reflects on both place and longing. “The song was written in May 2022 when I was living on the west side of Peterborough, in a not-so-safe neighborhood, longing to be living in the East City—but also longing for a person who was out of reach at the time,” Moon explains. The first single, “Sapphire Blue,” is an acoustic-driven, mid-tempo track that evokes mystery and resilience. With Moon’s plaintive vocals set against Linden’s atmospheric electric guitar, the song captures the spirit of searching for light across a darkened landscape. Other standout tracks include the traditional tune “Lulu Girl,” where Moon showcases her clawhammer banjo skills, and “Category Five,” a song written in Key West that underscores her message of following the heart. Raised in a household steeped in folk tradition as the daughter of legendary Canadian artist Gordon Lightfoot, Meredith Moon began writing songs at just eight years old. By her teens, she had taught herself guitar and honed her craft busking on sidewalks across Canada, from Halifax to Vancouver. Years of traveling by road and rail have shaped her songs into poignant, story-driven works, earning her a reputation as a unique and powerful voice in modern folk music. From Here To The Sea is now available on Compass Records across all streaming platforms and physical formats.
