Following his 2024 album Rhumba Country, LaFarge steps into a new chapter—new life, new label, and a new home in Los Angeles after years in Chicago. While Rhumba Country introduced a kaleidoscopic sound shaped by mambo, tropicalia, rocksteady, and mid-century American rock and roll, this new EP pares everything down to essentials. Each song is delicately adorned with subtle details, allowing LaFarge’s unmistakable voice and magnetic presence to take center stage. With Rhumba Country, LaFarge playfully challenged the idea of genre itself. Why that title? Because it gently mocked the urge to box music into tidy categories. What is folk?
