Powerhouse Guitarist And Songwriter Samantha Fish Announces Fiercest Album To Date, Paper Doll Release date: April 25, 2025 Samantha Fish, one of the most electrifying guitarists of her generation, continues to mesmerize audiences with her dynamic energy, bold style, emotional depth, and unique fusion of rock and soul. Renowned for her expressive guitar work and powerhouse stage presence, Fish's career soared to new heights with her 2023 album, Death Wish Blues. The record not only topped the Billboard Blues Chart but also earned her a Grammy nomination and invitations to support legends like The Rolling Stones, Jon Spencer, Slash, and more. This April, the Kansas City-born, New Orleans-based artist is set to unveil her most daring and visceral work yet with her new studio album, Paper Doll (Rounder Records). Produced by Detroit garage-rock icon Bobby Harlow (The Go), with a guest appearance from fellow Detroit luminary Mick Collins (The Gories) on one track, Paper Doll delivers raw intensity, soul-stirring empathy, and a newfound creative clarity. “It’s taken me years to truly find my voice in the studio,” Fish reveals. “But with this record, I put everything I had right on the table.” The album pulses with unapologetic defiance, as Fish delves into themes of vulnerability, self-expression, love, loss, and personal growth. Recorded between The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in Los Angeles, the 9-track collection came together amid a demanding touring schedule, allowing Fish to channel the wild, untamed energy of her live shows. “I’d never made a record on the road like that,” she admits. “Even though it was intense, keeping up that momentum from the live performances helped us create something with a real, living pulse.” The album features her trusted touring bandmates Ron Johnson (bass), Jamie Douglass (drums), and Mickey Finn (keys), capturing the essence of Fish’s fiery and authentic musical spirit. With today’s announcement, Fish has unveiled the album’s lead single, “Sweet Southern Sounds.” Co-written with fellow New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Anders Osborne, the track offers a poignant reflection on the struggle to balance passion and personal relationships, layered with smoldering guitar riffs and lush organ melodies. “It’s an anthem about life on the road and the guilt that comes with not always being present for the people you love,” Fish explains. “It’s tough to find that balance between nurturing your relationships and committing to your music, and that sense of heartache really comes through in this song.” Tracks:
