“Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” Marks a Heavier Chapter for Robert Jon & The Wreck

“Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” is Robert Jon & The Wreck’s first release of the year and a standalone track that signals a heavier, more aggressive edge for the band. Recorded in fall 2025 at the legendary Sunset Sound in Los Angeles Studio 2, famously known as the Van Halen room the song captures a raw, energized performance in a space steeped in rock history.

The track was self-produced by the band and engineered and mixed by Chad Gordon, who also worked on Henry’s very first album with his original band years earlier, bringing a full-circle connection to the recording process.

The song began during an acoustic writing session between Robert and Henry, built around a powerful chorus and a shared vision that leaned darker and heavier than much of the band’s previous work. Lyrically, “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is” is a call to action addressing the growing disconnect between words and actions, a theme that resonates on a personal, societal, and political level in today’s world.

Once introduced to the full band, the track came together quickly and organically, driven by a youthful, urgent energy that set it apart from the rest of their catalog. Musically, the song draws inspiration from heavy ’90s riff-driven rock, incorporating elements of punk, grunge, and metal, while also pushing into new sonic textures the band has never explored before.
