Often hailed as “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world,” The Big Damn Band is fronted by Reverend Peyton, widely recognized as one of today’s premier fingerstyle guitarists. Reverend Peyton has built a reputation as a captivating performer and a passionate advocate for rootsy, country blues—an art form that first captured his imagination early in life. His dedication led him and his band to Clarksdale, Mississippi, where they learned directly from blues legends like T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Joining Reverend Peyton is his wife, the washboard virtuoso Washboard Breezy Peyton, while Jacob “The Snakob” Powell provides the band’s driving, rhythmic backbone. The band’s latest album, Honeysuckle, was produced and recorded by Reverend Peyton himself and mixed by six-time Grammy-winning engineer Vance Powell (known for his work with Chris Stapleton and Jack White). The record features an impressive lineup of special guests, including The McCrary Sisters on the gospel-infused track “Manger,” Blues Hall of Famer and Grammy-nominated harmonica player Billy Branch on Blind Lemon Jefferson’s “Nell (Prison Cell Blues),” and 10-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland on “Freeborn Man.” Colton Crawford from The Dead South also lends his banjo skills to “The Good Die Young.” The album’s artwork showcases timeless wet plate photography by Bill Steber, the renowned photographer who has spent the last 30 years documenting Mississippi’s blues culture. “This record is a return to my roots,” Reverend Peyton explains. “It’s a deeply personal blend of old and new songs—ones that shaped me and others I’m still shaping. It’s the most acoustic album we’ve made in years, featuring vintage equipment, from microphones and guitars to recording gear. There’s plenty of me and my National guitar, along with touches of The Big Damn Band to keep things lively, plus collaborations with legendary musicians I’ve always dreamed of working with.” Website: bigdamnband.com Opmerkingen zijn gesloten.
