Robin Trower Unleashes Live Version of “Too Rolling Stoned” Ahead of One Moment In Time: Live In The USA

Award-winning British blues icon Robin Trower has unveiled a new live recording of his classic track “Too Rolling Stoned,” the latest preview from his forthcoming album One Moment In Time: Live In The USA, due for release on January 30 via Artone/Provogue. Recorded during Trower’s recent U.S. tour, the track captures the guitarist in electrifying form, delivering one of his most enduring songs with renewed fire and authority.

One Moment In Time: Live In The USA features a 14-song setlist that serves as a whirlwind journey through Trower’s storied career, striking a masterful balance between beloved classics and more recent material that reflects his continued artistic evolution. Central to the collection are four tracks from Trower’s 1974 gold-certified masterpiece Bridge Of Sighs, long regarded as one of the definitive albums of the blues-rock golden era.

“Those songs have to be in there, because they’re the audience’s favourites,” Trower says of the roaring performances of “Too Rolling Stoned” and the previously released live version of “Day of the Eagle.” “That album is still a very powerful piece of music.”

In the summer of 2025, riding high on acclaim for his latest studio album Come And Find Me praised by Classic Rock as a release from an artist “to be treasured” Trower crossed the Atlantic for a 25-date U.S. tour in a country that has embraced him since the earliest days of his career. Nearly six decades after his first American performances with Procol Harum in the late 1960s, Trower still recalls the impact of those early visits. “Back then, it was a different world,” he reflects.

The live recordings on One Moment In Time: Live In The USA were captured at two standout shows: the Music Box at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey (June 14), and Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, New Hampshire (June 24). Armed with his signature Fender Stratocaster, 50-watt Marshall stacks, and an array of Fulltone pedals—particularly evident in the wah-driven opener “The Razor’s Edge”—Trower commands the stage with unmistakable authority.

Yet, as Trower readily acknowledges, the album’s explosive energy stems from the chemistry of his long-standing power trio. “I prefer this format because I have more freedom,” he explains. “In a three-piece, everybody is trying to make up for the missing instrument.” Anchoring the band are bassist and vocalist Richard Watts, whom Trower calls “a wonderful voice, great musician,” and drummer Chris Taggart, “another fantastic musician.” “We’ve been working together now for a good ten years,” he adds. “They have to watch me a bit, because I’m leading and they have to follow—but they do a brilliant job.”

One Moment In Time: Live In The USA stands as a vivid snapshot of Robin Trower at full throttle—an artist still pushing boundaries and connecting deeply with his audience. “At the very least, you want the audience to feel entertained by the end of the show,” Trower says. “But I’d really like them to walk out feeling elated. I want them to get something emotionally out of this as well.”
