The free-spirited rock 'n' soul trio DeWolff has announced their upcoming studio album Muscle Shoals, set for release on December 6 via Mascot Records. The album was recorded at two iconic locations: FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama. Located on the banks of the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, became a musical mecca in the 1960s thanks to these two studios. FAME Studios played a pivotal role in shaping American soul music, with artists like Aretha Franklin, who recorded her breakout hit "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)" there, as well as Arthur Conley, Wilson Pickett, and Etta James. Just a short distance away, Muscle Shoals Sound Studios attracted legends like Cher, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. More recently, The Black Keys recorded their Grammy-winning album Brothers there in 2010. In May 2024, DeWolff journeyed to Muscle Shoals to record their 10th album, collaborating with Grammy Award-winning producer Ben Tanner (of Alabama Shakes fame). “There’s a real rock ’n’ roll magic in the air,” says band member Pablo. “From the moment we played our first notes, I got goosebumps. It was one of the best recording experiences we’ve ever had. Even Leon Russell’s grand piano and the Wurlitzer used by Aretha Franklin on her famous track were still there! It was clear from the start that our music, these studios, and Ben’s production skills were a perfect match. The whole process was fun, adventurous, and truly epic.” Tracks: 01. In Love 02.
