Saint Pierre’s Luck And Gravity Channels Americana Soul With A Classic Rock Edge (October 17, 2025) A Passion Project Years in the Making, the Album Tells a Story of Love, Loss, and Second Chances Husband-and-wife duo Danny and Julia St. Pierre have spent their lives navigating love, divorce, remarriage, and a shared passion for music. Their new project, Saint Pierre, marks their first album of original material together, Luck and Gravity, recorded with producer/guitarist Ed Tree at The Treehouse in San Gabriel, CA. Luck and Gravity is a vibrant mix of rock and Americana, textured with layered guitar riffs, warm B3 organ, Wurlitzer piano, and emotionally resonant harmonies. It’s a record that speaks to second chances; not just in love, but in life, art, and creative identity. “We’re a couple who got married in 1990, divorced, and then remarried in 2017,” says Julia. “We’ve always played music together, even when we weren’t a couple. But the pandemic gave us the time and clarity to finally make something that was just ours, original songs, built from scratch.” Drawing inspiration from their Texas roots and decades performing in the Tom Petty tribute band Petty Theft, Saint Pierre’s music channels classic rock grit with country-tinged storytelling. Julia’s powerhouse vocals are both intimate and commanding, matched by Danny’s dynamic guitar work and warm melodies. Luck and Gravity showcases 12 tracks, including the emotionally candid “You Steady Me”, the first song Julia wrote after reuniting with Danny, and “Meant to Be,” built around a 12-string riff that waited years for the right words to arrive. Other standouts include “Fine Ride West,” a road ode that uses the I-10 freeway as a metaphor for fate, family, and finding your way. “Love Who You Love” is a harmony-laced anthem of acceptance that poses the simple question, “What’s all the fuss?” “Pretty Is as Pretty Does” offers a sharp-tongued critique of modern hypocrisy, inspired by Julia’s mother. The album’s lone cover, “Keeping Me Alive,” is a rare Tom Petty deep cut that feels tailor-made for the couple’s real-life journey. Between Danny and producer Ed Tree, a small museum of guitars was at their disposal: Telecasters, Rickenbackers, Gretsches, Gibsons, and even a mandolin Danny had never played before (until a lyric demanded it). Julia’s contribution-a real Hammond B3 and Wurlitzer, giving the songs a rich, analog warmth. Every detail was intentional, even the album’s name. “We’ve said it for years,” says Danny. “We got here by luck and gravity, by chance and by force. And the songs are a reflection of all that.” The album is also a turning point for Julia, who released her solo debut The Heart Knows Better in 2015 (also with Ed Tree). She finally sat down to write seriously during the pandemic, inspired in part by Jeff Tweedy’s book How to Write One Song. “I knew I had things to say,” she explains. “I just had to book the session and show up.” Though this is the debut album from Saint Pierre, the duo’s musical relationship spans decades. As longtime SoCal performers and Texas natives, their songs feel lived-in, like postcards from different eras of their lives. Saint Pierre isn’t about flash or trend, it’s about experience, craft, and stories worth telling. Whether writing about personal heartbreak, social frustration, or good old-fashioned road trips, Luck and Gravity is a warm and wide-ranging record with hooks to spare and plenty of heart.
