Forever Songs, Shane Alexander’s eighth studio album, stands as a testament to his artistry, accompanied by one EP and a series of singles and side projects. The album blends California-tinged indie folk with timeless, lyric-driven acoustic rock, offering a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly current.

Like many of his peers, Alexander drew inspiration from the revelations brought about during the pandemic. “There are songs born out of dread, seeking connection, hope, and ultimately, gratitude,” he reflects. “Despite how scary that time was, so many great things came from it. I co-wrote dozens of songs remotely in 2020-21, and a few of those found their way onto this record. Tracks like ‘Autumn Blue,’ ‘Love Finds a Way,’ and ‘Higher than High’ came to me during nightly walks with my dog. The title Forever Songs is a double entendre, referring both to the enduring quality of the songs and the years it took to complete them.”

This new album takes a more rocking and timeless direction compared to its predecessor, A Life Like Ours. “That record felt like a transitional period for me,” Alexander explains. “It found success with tracks like ‘Everything as One,’ featured in a national Chevy commercial, and ‘I’ll Be Here,’ which appeared on The Rookie. But it was released just before the pandemic, so I didn’t get to tour behind it as much as I wanted.”

Reflecting on his journey as an independent artist, Alexander shares, “It’s incredibly challenging to sustain a career as a full-time indie musician. I’m fortunate to have a supportive family who has stood by me through both lean and prosperous times. I think I have the kind of stubborn resolve to keep going, bolstered by just enough success and accolades to trust in my abilities. A special shoutout to Jewel, who took me on two tours early in my career. Performing in front of thousands of strangers and winning them over with my songs and stories was a huge confidence booster that set me on this path.”

“I’m incredibly proud of Forever Songs,” Alexander adds. “It’s the third self-produced solo album I’ve recorded at my studio in Southern California. I’m always aiming for major label sound and reach on an indie budget, and with each project, I think we’re getting closer. My success hinges on my fans—those who buy my records, attend my shows, and spread the word. I’m so grateful for your support. We need you now more than ever!”
