Singer/Songwriter Bandana Cheyenna Continues Breakout Year with New Release 'Onward Ridin’

Duet with Adam Wendler

Acclaimed Country/Americana artist and Nashville hitmaker BANDANA CHEYENNA continues their breakout momentum with the release of Onward Ridin’, a powerful new duet with fellow singer/songwriter Adam Wendler.

Best known for co-writing Austin (Boots Stop Workin’), the global smash hit by Dasha, along with a growing catalog of cuts for other artists, Cheyenna continues to establish themselves as a sought-after songwriter and artist with a compelling voice in their own right.

Co-written by Cheyenna, Wendler, and Berlin-based songwriter and producer Derek Ullenboom, Onward Ridin’ captures the spirit of perseverance and forward motion. “We wrote this when Derek was visiting Nashville last summer,” shares Cheyenna. “It’s about continuing on your journey toward new horizons — sometimes you just gotta move on.”

This track will be featured on Cheyenna’s forthcoming Act 2: The Desert EP, part of their four-part project The Artist’s Pilgrimage, slated to be released Friday, May 29, 2026. “This is the last song on the Act 2 EP and it feels like the perfect way to close this chapter,” Cheyenna adds. “It speaks to weathering the desert, pushing through uncertainty, and finding the determination to reach whatever comes next.”

Cheyenna’s momentum in 2026 kicked off with the release of Act I of The Artist’s Pilgrimage, which was celebrated with a packed release show, followed by a four-song winter love series (Below Freezing, Every Little Piece, A Walk in the Woods, and Avalanche). They also unveiled their own outlaw-leaning version of Austin (Boots Stop Workin’), further showcasing their artistry, while performing it in Austin during SXSW. Their growing performance resumé this year includes appearances at WSM-AM (the radio home of the Grand Ole Opry), The Bluebird Café, Folk Alliance International, SXSW, CRS, Tin Pan South, among others. Cheyenna was also a finalist in the 2026 Music City Mayhem competition hosted by Nashville’s Lightning 100.

Beyond co-writing the Austin global hit, Cheyenna’s songwriting catalog includes Alexandra Kay’s viral hit Cupid’s A Cowgirl, cuts with Magnolia Rising, and more. With two full-length albums already released and Act II arriving May29, Cheyenna continues to expand their artistry while staying rooted in timeless Americana storytelling.

About BANDANA CHEYENNA: A prolific songwriter and soulful artist blending country, folk, & pop with witty, emotionally rich storytelling, “hippie songbird” BANDANA CHEYENNA is one to watch in today’s music landscape. Already known as one of Nashville’s most sought-after hitmakers, their notable writing credits include Dasha’s global billion-stream hit Austin (Boots Stop Workin’), Alexandra Kay’s viral track Cupid's A Cowgirl, and Second Wind title track, Magnolia Rising’s Hit The Ground, and more.

Cheyenna collaborated with acclaimed artists and producers such as Abby Anderson, Anna Graves, Breland, Caleb Hearn, Caylee Hammack, Dan Wilson (Chris Stapleton, Adele), Elizabeth Nichols, Gayle, Jonah Marais (Why Don’t We), Julia Cole, Karley Scott Collins, Kylie Morgan, Maddie Zahm, MaRynn Taylor, Mickey Guyton, Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), Owen Riegling, Paul Sykes (Lainey Wilson), Roman Alexander, Shaylen, Sheppard, Sophia Scott, Spencer Crandall, Tayla Parx, Tenille Arts, The Veronicas, Tigirlily Gold, and more. They performed at Nashville Pride, Folk Alliance International, SXSW, CRS, Tin Pan South, and more. A 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards winner (Female Song of the Year) and a 2024 & 2025 ASCAP Awards honoree, Cheyenna continues to carve out a bold and authentic lane in today’s music landscape.

Drawing influences from Joni Mitchell, Willie Nelson, John Denver, Brandi Carlile, and Noah Kahan, Cheyenna describes their sound as “if Noah Kahan, Kacey Musgraves, and Willie Nelson had a three-way queer hippie song child.” Raised in the cornfields of Ohio, Cheyenna grew up immersed in Midwestern religious traditions, secretly discovering country and folk music through their father’s favorites like Dan Fogelberg and Kenny Loggins. A 1999 baby soaking in 2010s country radio - Little Big Town, The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, and of course Taylor Swift – Cheyenna wrote their first song at age six, but at age 11 decided to pursue songwriting as a career. “My dad got me a documentary on Taylor’s early life and I learned that she started off by getting a publishing deal in Nashville, so that became my goal. I thought it was so cool how her songs blended genres. I remember thinking, ‘I wanna write like THAT.’”

Gender-free and genre-free, Cheyenna is passionate about expanding diversity, queerness, and female empowerment in country music. Fully independent, they are now stepping boldly into the spotlight as an artist. “I will never not be a songwriter — but this was always the plan. I have a story to tell, and I want to give it my all.”
