M.C. Records is proud to announce the release of Slow Burn, the brand-new album from Kim Wilson, harmonica master, vocalist, and frontman of the iconic Fabulous Thunderbirds. Slow Burn follows Wilson’s 2020 Grammy-nominated The Bigtone Sessions and marks his fourth full-length release on the label.

The album is a powerful tribute to the blues, featuring unreleased recordings from two sessions one in 2014 and another in 2020. It also captures some of the final studio performances of three late blues greats: drummer Richard Innes, pianist Barrelhouse Chuck, and bassist Larry Taylor of Canned Heat.

“This album is very special,” says Wilson. “Several of these tracks feature the last recordings by Richard, Larry, and Chuck. We cut everything the old-school way, but the sound holds up beautifully. It’s some of the deepest blues I’ve ever recorded, and I hope fans enjoy it as much as we did making it.”

On Slow Burn, Wilson delivers searing interpretations of songs by B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Nighthawk, and Sonny Boy Williamson II, alongside four powerful originals. His unmistakable vocals and world-renowned harmonica playing shine throughout, reaffirming his place as one of the greatest living blues musicians.

Best known as the voice and soul of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Wilson has also built an extraordinary solo career. Over the decades, he has performed and recorded with legends including Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Paul Simon, and Muddy Waters, while earning recognition as one of the finest harmonica players of his generation.

Slow Burn is more than an album it’s a celebration of the blues and a lasting tribute to the friends and heroes who helped shape it.
