JUNO-nominated and Maple Blues Award–winning artist Spencer Mackenzie releases his fourth single, “Don’t Know Where I’m Going,”
The track is taken from his forthcoming studio album,
Empty Chairs.

out February 20, 2026, via Gypsy Soul Records.

Turning up both volume and intensity, Mackenzie delivers a bold, electrified reimagining of Rory Gallagher’s acoustic classic. Driven by a deep, gritty guitar tone and a fast-moving, hard-hitting rhythm section, “Don’t Know Where I’m Going” channels raw blues power through a modern blues-rock lens. The result honours the spirit of the original while showcasing Mackenzie’s signature fire and fearless approach, further building anticipation for the upcoming album.

Produced by two-time JUNO nominee and Emmy Award–winning mixer Ross Hayes Citrullo (The Commoners), Empty Chairs captures Mackenzie at his most expressive and uncompromising. The album fuses reverence for blues legends with the bold energy of contemporary blues rock, delivering electrifying guitar work, punchy riffs, soaring organ, dynamic vocals, and an explosive rhythm section. Gritty and introspective, the record reflects Mackenzie’s evolving sound while staying deeply rooted in blues tradition.

With fluid phrasing, resonant tone, and emotionally charged performances, one might assume Spencer Mackenzie was born on Beale Street—but he proudly hails from Southern Ontario. A rising force on the international blues scene, Mackenzie has earned widespread acclaim for his authenticity, musicianship, and commanding stage presence. His live performances are powerful and immersive, leaving nothing behind as he delivers sophistication and intensity beyond his years.

For nearly a decade, Mackenzie has been writing and recording honest, emotionally driven blues, capturing the raw truth the genre demands. There is a natural ease to his playing as though the music flows through him rather than from him creating an infectious energy that resonates deeply with listeners.

A seasoned live performer, Mackenzie has toured extensively across Canada, Europe, and the United States, appearing at major festivals including Montreal International Jazz Festival, Festival d’été de Québec, Moulin Blues Ospel, Ribs & Blues Raalte, and Kulturring Schöppingen Blues Festival. He has shared stages with acclaimed artists such as Walter Trout, Fantastic Negrito, Samantha Fish, and Jesse Dayton, among many others.

Producer Ross Hayes Citrullo brings his acclaimed artistry and technical mastery to Empty Chairs, infusing the album with a live, visceral energy.
“What we caught on this album is honesty and fire,” says Citrullo. “Spencer’s playing is fearless, his voice wide open, and every take breathes like a live show you don’t want to end. Producing it was about chasing moments you can’t fake tone that tells the truth, stories that cut deep, and performances that live in the room. It’s the blues, lit up with a rock edge hitting with modern bite and a timeless feel.”

With a powerful new single, a highly anticipated album on the way, and an electrifying live presence, Spencer Mackenzie continues to prove himself as one of today’s most compelling blues-rock artists showing no signs of slowing down.
