Sunjay Shares New Single From Upcoming Album Split The Sheets

Award-winning British blues and roots artist Sunjay has unveiled his new single, “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again,” written by George Borowski, ahead of an upcoming UK headline tour.

The track is lifted from Sunjay’s tenth studio album, Split The Sheets, a collection that explores love, heartbreak and the complexities of human connection. Speaking about the album’s direction, Sunjay said: “When I started putting Split The Sheets together, I realised pretty quickly that although it had become a love-themed album, not all of it was exactly hearts and flowers. This one definitely sits in the shade category.”

Built around a striking contrast between lyrical heartbreak and upbeat musical energy, “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” captures Sunjay at his most playful and unpredictable. “The lyrics are basically saying ‘that’s it, never again’, while the music sounds completely carefree and upbeat, like it’s ignored the heartbreak entirely,” he explained. “We really leaned into that tension.”

Driven by slide guitar, screeching harmonica and a soaring double Hammond organ solo, the track embraces a wild, almost chaotic energy. “I liked the idea of taking a title like ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’ and then making the track sound completely out of control,” Sunjay added. “There’s something funny about that contradiction to me. The whole thing’s got a slightly unhinged energy to it, which felt far more believable than pretending heartbreak always arrives quietly with an acoustic guitar.”

The release follows recent appearances on BBC Radio 2’s The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews and a live interview with David Freeman on Jazz FM, further cementing Sunjay’s growing reputation across the blues, roots and contemporary Americana scenes.
