Texas Blues Veteran Neal Black Returns with Number 3 Monkey Release date: March 27, 2026 Texas blues-rock artist Neal Black has built a reputation as one of the most powerful voices of the genre. Born in San Antonio to a German mother and a Native American father, he began his career in the 1980s on the Texas blues circuit, sharing stages with legends such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, George Thorogood, and Leon Russell. Today, Neal Black is widely respected as a guitarist, songwriter, and electrifying live performer. Backed by his band The Healers, he delivers a high-energy show that has earned him a strong following on both sides of the Atlantic. His last four studio albums topped the blues radio charts in France and received critical acclaim from leading European music magazines. On his new album “Number 3 Monkey,” Neal Black returns to the musical roots that shaped his sound while continuing to push his signature blend of blues and rock. The record moves effortlessly from fiery electric guitar workouts to more intimate moments featuring acoustic slide and dobro, all driven by Black’s unmistakable smoky vocals. It’s a sound that has earned him the nickname “The Master of High Voltage Texas Boogie.” Of the twelve tracks on Number 3 Monkey, ten are original compositions by Neal Black. The album also includes two classic covers — “No Way To Get Along” by Robert Wilkins and “Devil Got My Woman” by Skip James — paying tribute to the blues pioneers who helped shape his musical journey.
