​The Doobie Brothers’ album Walk This Road, produced by John Shanks, highlights the band’s distinctive songwriting approach and blends their diverse musical styles into a unified, signature sound. Themes of recovery and enlightenment run throughout the album, capturing the idea of “waking up to see the important things you’ve been missing,” as Patrick Simmons explains. The title track, featuring Mavis Staples, conveys a message of hope and unity, reflecting the journey to find the right path forward.

In other exciting news, the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced that the band’s legendary songwriting will be honored with induction at their June 2025 ceremony in New York. Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, and Patrick Simmons will receive the prestigious Performing Songwriters award, celebrating their extraordinary contributions as composers and lyricists whose work has left a lasting mark on music worldwide.
