The Dregde: Whales
Post-apocalyptic rock debut without autotune

The Dredge from Bergen, Norway, debuts with the single Whales from their forthcoming album Torches, (spring 2024), a post-apocalyptic rock album with a backbone of bass, drums and distorted guitars and a head full of anguished vocal.

With a soundscape that is big and dramatic, and with a beat that never lets up, Whales evolves through a hefty, hypnotizing riff and manic metaphors – and creates a musical world distorted on the brink of collapse.

The single, as well as the forthcoming album, is thoughtfully produced by the band and Iver Sandøy (Enslaved, Kvelertak), spiked with elegant details and with no trace of autotune or click-tracks. All you hear is the hard, physical work of the band's fundamental groove.

The Dredge has been feeding on rock since they were teens, which they are not anymore; One can hear the mix of lived lives and a thousand evenings of rehearsal in what is a band of incredible coordinated interplay. In addition, one can hear the inspiration of so many bands that it impossible to name them. Nonetheless; names like Jane's Addiction, The Police, XTC, Mogwai, The Mars Volta and The Smile are perhaps among them.

The Dredge are: Kjetil Vikene (vocals, guitars, keys), Mats Andersen (bass) and Frode Røsjø from Helheim  (drums). The band was founded in the 90's and they have finally managed to let an album escape from their vast vault of original material. And about time! It is a shame that this is only the first single; rumours has it that this ridiculously slow moving monster of a band has enough material to fill another five albums
