Van Morrison kondigt vijfenveertigste studioalbum Accentuate The Positive aan en deelt single Shakin' All Over

In maart greep Sir Morrison terug naar zijn liefde voor het genre skiffle met het album Moving On Skiffle. Nu brengt hij een hommage aan blues en rock-'n-roll met zijn nieuwe plaat Accentuate The Positive. Het album verschijnt op vrijdag 3 november. Vandaag is het nummer Shakin' All Over (een cover van Johnny Kidd & The Pirates) al te beluisteren.
 
Van Morrison liet zich na de Tweede Wereldoorlog enorm inspireren door de onstuimige klanken van r&b en de eerste rock-'n-roll. Hij luisterde naar artiesten als Fats Domino, Chuck Berry en The Everly Brothers. Het duurde niet lang voordat Van deze klanken begon te verwerken in de muziek van zijn eigen band. Decennia later blikt het 78-jarige icoon terug naar zijn jeugd door persoonlijke favorieten als Lonesome Train van The Johnny Burnette Trio, Shakin' All Over van Johnny Kidd & The Pirates en Flip, Flop and Fly van Big Joe Turner te herwerken. 
 
Wie is Van Morrison?
Van Morrison is een Noord-Ierse singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist en producer. Hij werd bekend als zanger van de band rockband Them, die in 1964 een hit scoorde met de single Gloria. In 1967 startte Van Morrison zijn solocarrière met de legendarische debuutsingle Brown Eyed Girl. Ondertussen staat de teller op meer dan 40 albums. In 2016 werd hij geridderd voor zijn verdiensten voor de muziekindustrie.

​​Van Morrison unveils his 45th studio album, 'Accentuate The Positive', which is now available to pre-order ahead of its release on November 3rd. This electrifying homage to rock ‘n’ roll is launched alongside its first single, a new take on the Johnny Kidd classic ‘Shakin’ All Over’. 
 
Like this year’s acclaimed ‘Moving On Skiffle’, ‘Accentuate The Positive’ sees Van Morrison returning to one of his childhood passions: this time rock ‘n’ roll. Growing up in Belfast shortly after World War II, he was immensely inspired by the heady sounds of 20th century blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Listening to artists such as Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers, it wasn’t long until Van was intuitively reinterpreting these sounds with his own band in local hometown venues.
 
Several decades later, Van Morrison now revisits the genre by reimagining some of his personal favourites for ‘Accentuate The Positive’, and infusing those timeless songs with an energy that constantly challenges and expands upon its traditions. Van’s inimitable voice combined with superb arrangements and highly accomplished brings a fresh zeal to such great songs as The Johnny Burnette Trio’s, ‘Lonesome Train’, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates’, ‘Shakin’ All Over’ and Big Joe Turner’s pioneering rock ‘n’ roll hit, ‘Flip, Flop and Fly’.
 
Contributors to the album include electric guitar from the late Jeff Beck and vocals from Chris Farlowe on, ‘Lonesome Train’, plus guitar from Taj Mahal on, ‘Lucille’ and, ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’.

Accentuate The Positive will be released on digital/streaming formats, single-CD, black double-vinyl and blue double-vinyl.
