VizzTone Shines a Light on Bob Corritore’s Early Blues Sessions with Rare Little Milton Track

Previously unreleased 2002 recording of “I Want To Be The One” previews forthcoming collection spanning 1984–2007.

VizzTone proudly announces the release of “I Want To Be The One,” a previously unheard 2002 studio collaboration between harmonica master Bob Corritore and legendary bluesman Little Milton. Available now, the single offers the first glimpse into Corritore’s forthcoming collection, Early Blues Sessions (out October 17), spanning 1984–2007 and featuring an extraordinary lineup of artists who shaped the blues.

Penned specifically for the session, “I Want To Be The One” captures Milton at a remarkable creative peak, fusing his Mississippi roots with his later blues/soul sound. Backed by Corritore on harmonica, pianist Henry Gray, and drummer Chico Chism, Milton’s commanding vocals and soulful guitar tone shine throughout the track.
“This song feels like a lost classic,” recalls Corritore. “If it had come out as a 45 in the mid-1970s, I could easily imagine it spinning on jukeboxes across Chicago’s blues bars. Milton is in great voice here, and I’m thrilled people will finally get to hear it.”

Early Blues Sessions reflects Corritore’s decades-long mission to preserve pivotal musical moments. From Lowell Fulson and Jimmy Rogers to Robert Lockwood, Pinetop Perkins, and Sam Lay, the collection documents rare studio collaborations with artists who defined multiple eras of the blues. Many of these giants are no longer with us, but through Corritore’s foresight—bringing them to Phoenix’s Rhythm Room and into the studio their legacy lives on in vivid form.

“I Want To Be The One” stands as both a tribute and a time capsule bridging generations, celebrating Milton’s versatility, and reaffirming the enduring power of the blues.
